Insurance

Yes! We have Professional Indemnity Insurance. Please ask us or your solicitor what this means to you. Building inspectors in Queensland are required to carry Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance cover to legally conduct pre-purchase and general residential building inspections. In the past there have been several cases where builders have been conducting such inspections without even knowing that they are supposed to have this insurance and thought they were operating within the law.

Licensing

Queensland building inspectors are required by law to hold a QBCC builder’s license, as well as the classification of “Completed Residential Building Inspection” in order to conduct Pre-purchase and General Building Inspections and to prepare relevant reports. Part of holding this license is the requirement to carry a current PI insurance policy. For verification of any QBCC license holder, go to qbcc.qld.gov.au and click on “Online License Search”. Type in 1113180 into the “License” field or “Ausi Spec” into the “Surname/Company Name” field to verify our current license status.
